Homemade pizza party! Since I can remember Friday has always been pizza night. About two years ago in our house we decided to make our own pizza. What I enjoy the most is that you can create your own pizza. I cheat a little and buy the dough from my neighborhood pizzeria, you could of course make your own but after a long day at work I think this shortcut is a perfect solution. I like to tell guests to bring their favorite topping so that everyone can create their specialty pizza. It’s exciting to watch everyone’s unique creation.
1 large pizza dough
1 jar of pizza sauce
3 cups of shredded mozzarella
Toppings of choice ( I like pineapple chunks, red onions, marinated tomatoes and mushrooms)
3-4 basil leaves
Freshly grated parmesan cheese
1. Heat oven to 500 degrees with pizza stone ( place stone in cold oven) for 1 hour
2. Roll out dough onto a pizza pan or pizza peel ( if using peel sprinkle cornmeal on peel). Brush olive oil onto dough and prick dough with fork.
3. Spoon sauce onto dough ensuring you leave adequate space at edges for the crust
4. Sprinkle cheese evenly
5. Add toppings
6. Bake for 12-15 minutes
7. Once you remove from oven using sprinkle with chopped basil and top with grated parmesan cheese
